Ask me about The 3-Second RuleHow?

Request a 3-Second Rule button by sending your name and mailing address to The3SecondRule@SafeRoadsAlliance.org and we’ll mail a button to you.

Wear it…

Wear the button for at least one hour and explain the 3-Second Rule to everyone who asks.

Q: What is The 3-Second Rule?

A: The 3-Second Rule is the way to know the safe distance behind the car in front of you.  As the car in front of you passes an object on the side of the road count 3 seconds before your car passes that same object.  The 3-Second Rule works at any speed.

Report back…

Tell us how many times you answered the question, and share any interesting or amusing stories you have about wearing the button, by e-mailing us at: Report@SafeRoadsAlliance.org.

And…

Ask if you may send us the names and e-mail addresses of those you explained The 3-Second Rule to (so that we may include them on our safe-driving mailing list). You will receive $10 per name off the cost of In Control’s Massachusetts certified driver skills development program*!

how to sponsor

It is no less than a gift of life.

Advanced driver training saves lives. You can help young people live their futures.

If you have the desire and resources to make a gift with long-term impact to your community, please consider becoming a Safe Roads Sponsor.  Safe Roads Sponsors provide funding and full scholarships to high school students for approved (see Advanced driver training) advanced driver training programs.

Sponsors participate at $5,000 increments.  While a program can be custom tailored, typically a Level I ($5000) Sponsorship will provide full scholarships for 10 students and a $50 subsidy for another 30 students.  You may choose to have the student selected from a high school city, town or other defined area that you designate. We will assist you in ways to publicize your involvement, including media coverage for classes you have sponsored.

If you would like to speak with a Safe Roads representative or if you would like to arrange a meeting to see how your gift can help your community, please call or write to us at:
